Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood holds anti-Semetic rally, draws thousands at Cairo’s top mosque vowing to ‘one day kill all the Jews’

A Muslim revival at Cairo’s most prominent mosque Friday that drew 5,000 worshippers reportedly turned into a hate-fueled rally, complete with repeated vows to “one day kill all the Jews.”

Led by the Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt’s largest and best-organized political party, the crowd that gathered at the al-Azhar Mosque chanted “Tel Aviv! Tel Aviv! Judgment Day has come!” according to Israeli website Ynetnews.com.

Palestinian guest speakers and spokesmen for the Muslim Brotherhood roused the crowd with speeches aiming to incite Jihad directed at Israel, specifically promoting a “battle against Jerusalem’s Judaization.”

ESPN drops Hank Williams Jr. from ‘Monday Night Football’

After ESPN dropped Hank Williams Jr. from opening Monday Night Football tonight after Williams’ controversial comments Monday about President Obama, the singer now says he was “misunderstood.”

Says ESPN, in a statement: “While Hank Williams Jr. is not an ESPN employee, we recognize he is closely linked to our company through the opening to Monday Night Football. We are extremely disappointed with his comments, and as a result have decided to pull the open from tonight’s telecast.”

Williams, perhaps best known for his “are you ready for some football?” lead-in to ESPN’s Monday Night Football, Monday compared this summer’s so-called golf summit between Obama and House Speaker John Boehner as “one of the biggest political mistakes ever.”

As Williams put it on Fox News’ Fox & Friends: “It would be like Hitler playing golf with (Israeli leader) Benjamin Netanyahu.”

Can you say overreaction by ESPN? Putting aside for a minute that Hank never actually, directly compared Obama to Hitler, if you watch the video it’s pretty obvious that Hank is high on something more than just life. Cut the dude some slack, he’s survived a traumatic brain injury, he’s a musician, musicians spout all sorts of bizarre thoughts aloud. Bring the song back, it’s a decades long tradition, Monday Night Football is pretty lame without it.

‘US paying salaries for jailed Palestinian terrorists’

The Palestinian Authority spends more than $5 million a month paying salaries to terrorists sitting in Israeli prisons, according to a Palestinian Media Watch report presented to congressmen in Washington on Tuesday.

According to the report, written by Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik, such payments contravene US law, which prohibits funding of any person who “engages in, or has engaged in terrorist activity.

Israel Blocks Pro-Palestinian Activists’ ‘Fly-In’ Attempt

Israel has blocked an attempt by international activists to organize a high-profile, humanitarian visit to Palestinians in the West Bank.

More than 200 pro-Palestinian activists in Europe were barred from boarding flights to Tel Aviv, after Israel sent a blacklist. Israeli authorities warned foreign airlines that activists were planning anti-Israel protests and disruptions at the airport and they would not be allowed into the country.

Some activists who managed to arrive in Israel were detained and face deportation.

Police said the 20 activists who made it to Ben Gurion Airport, near Tel Aviv, arrived from Switzerland, to be detained by security forces who were expected to expel them.

Iran test fires 14 missiles capable of reaching Israeli, US targets

Iran fired 14 missiles and unveiled underground ballistic missile silos today, kicking off a series of war games over the next 10 days. Some of the missiles, launched today, have a range of more than 1,200 miles – enough to reach Israel and American installations in the region, Iranian PressTV reports.

Longer-range missiles are not likely to be built because all of Iran’s desired targets are already in reach with its current missiles, said Brig. Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the Revolutionary Guards’ aerospace division.

“We possess the technology to build missiles with longer ranges but we do not need missiles with a range of more than 2,000 kilometers and we do not intend to produce them,” Mr. Hajizadeh said from the sidelines of the drills, which are known as Great Prophet 6. “Iran’s missiles have a range of up to 2,000 kilometers and have been designed for US and the Zionist regime [Israel]‘s bases in the region.”

Ten years ago we could have crushed the Iranian threat without too much trouble. Now, I’m not so sure. We may have passed a tipping point where it’s now impossible to stop Iran’s nuclear program or the cost of stopping it is prohibitive and unacceptable. It’s bad enough that Iran has been allowed to pursue their atomic weapons program pretty much unimpeded, but now it appears that they have the missile technology to reliably deliver nuclear warheads anywhere in the region. What happens next is anyone’s guess.

Iron Dome to Become Operational

Following the recent escalation on the Gaza strip border, the IDF will deploy for the first time the Iron Dome missile defense system in strategic locations in the south of Israel as soon as Sunday, in order to shot down rockets and mortar shells fired at Israeli civilians.

The Iron Dome is a one of a kind portable anti missile system, designed to protect an area stretching over 10 square kilometers from short-range rockets and mortar shells. The system can calculate whether the rockets fired are a threat to civilian population or strategic sites based on their trajectory, thus intercepting only the ones which pose a threat and not handling the ones which will land in open areas.

The Israeli Defense Forces hope the system will perform as expected and intercept all incoming rockets. If it does do so, the IDF will mark another unprecedented historical achievement, which could mean a “game changer” in the Middle East.

Israel Seizes Egypt-Bound Ship With Arms On Board

Israel announced Tuesday that its naval forces have intercepted and seized a cargo ship carrying weapons from Turkey to Egypt, adding that it believed the arms shipment originated in Iran and was destined for the Palestinian militants in Gaza.

Israeli officials said the ship was seized some 200 nautical miles west off the Israeli coast. An initial search of the seized vessel uncovered three containers loaded with arms and officials indicating the ship would be searched thoroughly after it reaches Israel.

The seized cargo ship was identified as “Victoria,” which according to Israeli officials had initially set off from the Syrian port of Lattakia to Mercin in Turkey. They said the vessel was seized when it was heading towards the Egyptian port of Alexandria from Turkey.

The Israeli officials, however, stressed that their initial investigations indicated that neither Turkey nor Egypt were involved in the arms shipment. They believe the countries involved in the shipment were Iran and Syria.

“The only certain thing is the source of the weaponry was Iran, and there was a Syrian relay station as well. This is the main axis that provides the forces of terror in Lebanon and Gaza,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday.

Family Slaughtered By Palestinians

Five members of an Israeli family were killed Friday night when a suspected terrorist broke into their home in the West Bank settlement of Itamar and stabbed them all to death. The 12-year-old daughter who returned home from a friend’s house discovered the bodies. According to police, the suspect broke into the house armed with a knife and stabbed the mother, father and three children, aged 11, three and a three-month-old baby. Two infants, aged 2 and 4, survived the attack while escaping to their neighbors.

One of the paramedics who arrived at the scene described the horrific sights “We could not help the first four stab victims. Following an inspection of the scene I spotted an infant of about three who still had a pulse. We engaged in lengthy resuscitation efforts but had to pronounce him dead,” he said. “The murder scene was shocking. Kids’ toys right next to pools of blood.”

Security sources suspect that the attacker who carried out the massacre cut the fence surrounding Itamar and entered the home of the victims through the window, authorities could not immediately discount the possibility that more than one attacker was involved in the murder. The military blocked the entrance to the northern West Bank settlement of Itamar, as soldiers poured inside and a pair of ambulances departed.

Gaza celebrates

Gaza residents from the southern city of Rafah hit the streets Saturday to celebrate the terror attack in the West Bank settlement of Itamar where five family members were murdered in their sleep, including three children.

Residents handed out candy and sweets, one resident saying the joy “is a natural response to the harm settlers inflict on the Palestinian residents in the West Bank.”

Israeli jet downs flying object near nuclear plant

An Israeli warplane has shot down a “suspicious object” flying over the southern part of the Dead Sea, the military said, adding that the intruder appeared to have been a balloon.

The country’s main nuclear reactor is about 30 kilometres from the Dead Sea, at Dimona in the Negev desert.

“Air force planes were scrambled after a suspicious object was seen,” a military spokeswoman told AFP yesterday. “It was shot down.” She did not elaborate.

Local news site Ynet said one of the planes fired a missile at the object “which was hovering close to the nuclear research institute at Dimona.”
