See If You Can Read It Before Congress Passes It

Here it is, the final version of Porkapalooza (1071 pages):

Bill Text – Division A
Bill Text – Division B

You may as well read it and find out where they’re wasting your trillion dollars, because no one in Congress is going to read it before they vote on it.

Democratic Senator Predicts None of His Colleagues ‘Will Have the Chance’ to Read Final Stimulus Bill Before Vote

Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) predicted on Thursday that none of his Senate colleagues would “have the chance” to read the entire final version of the $790-billion stimulus bill before the bill comes up for a final vote in Congress.

“No, I don’t think anyone will have the chance to [read the entire bill],” Lautenberg told

The final bill, crafted by a House-Senate conference committee, was posted on the Website of the House Appropriations Committe late Thurday in two PDF files.

House passes Obama’s economic stimulus bill

The measure was passed on a 246-183, with no Republican “yes” votes.

/good, except for the Three Stooges of the Senate, the Democrats are going to totally own this obscene travesty

Well, we’re waiting for Godot Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) to get back from his mother’s wake and put Porkapalooza over the top in the Senate and on to Obama’s desk for signature. Of course, to add insult to injury, you’re paying for his airfare.

White House books Brown’s flight to D.C.

A government plane will ferry Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) back to Washington from his mother’s wake in Ohio in time to vote tonight, courtesy of the White House.

Brown won’t even be leaving until viewing hours end at 8 p.m. He then travels back to Washington votes and flies back for his mother’s funeral tomorrow morning.

/hey, when you absolutely, positively have to shove a trillion dollar Porkapalooza down the taxpayers’ throats overnight, without even reading the bill, what’s a little taxpayer funded plane ride, you’re willing to bend over a little further, right?

Well, it’s over. Brown finally toddled in and voted, not with a bang but a whimper.

Congress Passes Stimulus Package

With the final vote coming late in the night, Congress yesterday approved a $787 billion stimulus package that aims to spur millions of jobs through massive new investments in energy, transportation, education and health-care projects, while reviving social safety-net programs that have been shrinking for nearly three decades.

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Can’t Keep State Secrets

Feinstein comment on U.S. drones likely to embarrass Pakistan

A senior U.S. lawmaker said Thursday that unmanned CIA Predator aircraft operating in Pakistan are flown from an air base in that country, a revelation likely to embarrass the Pakistani government and complicate its counter-terrorism collaboration with the United States.

The disclosure by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, marked the first time a U.S. official had publicly commented on where the Predator aircraft patrolling Pakistan take off and land.

At a hearing, Feinstein expressed surprise over Pakistani opposition to the campaign of Predator-launched CIA missile strikes against Islamic extremist targets along Pakistan’s northwestern border.

“As I understand it, these are flown out of a Pakistani base,” she said.

The basing of the pilotless aircraft in Pakistan suggests a much deeper relationship with the United States on counter-terrorism matters than has been publicly acknowledged. Such an arrangement would be at odds with protests lodged by officials in Islamabad, the capital, and could inflame anti-American sentiment in the country.

The CIA declined to comment, but former U.S. intelligence officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the information, confirmed that Feinstein’s account was accurate.
