So, Obama has no problem being photographed getting chummy with Hugo Chavez, one of the most anti-American, anti-Semitic socialist dictators in the world. And yet he treats Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, one of America’s staunchest allies, like a disease, refusing to be photographed with him, hold a joint press conference, or even release a written public statement. What’s wrong with Barack Obama?
Binyamin Netanyahu humiliated after Barack Obama ‘dumped him for dinner’
For a head of government to visit the White House and not pose for photographers is rare. For a key ally to be left to his own devices while the President withdraws to have dinner in private was, until this week, unheard of. Yet that is how Binyamin Netanyahu was treated by President Obama on Tuesday night, according to Israeli reports on a trip viewed in Jerusalem as a humiliation.
After failing to extract a written promise of concessions on settlements, Mr Obama walked out of his meeting with Mr Netanyahu but invited him to stay at the White House, consult with advisers and “let me know if there is anything new”, a US congressman, who spoke to the Prime Minister, said.
“It was awful,” the congressman said. One Israeli newspaper called the meeting “a hazing in stages”, poisoned by such mistrust that the Israeli delegation eventually left rather than risk being eavesdropped on a White House telephone line. Another said that the Prime Minister had received “the treatment reserved for the President of Equatorial Guinea”.
Left to talk among themselves Mr Netanyahu and his aides retreated to the Roosevelt Room. He spent a further half-hour with Mr Obama and extended his stay for a day of emergency talks to try to restart peace negotiations. However, he left last night with no official statement from either side. He returned to Israel yesterday isolated after what Israeli media have called a White House ambush for which he is largely to blame.

How can anyone explain Obama’s reprehensible behavior, treating the Israeli Prime Minister with utter contempt and barring any press coverage whatsoever, as opposed to gleefully glad handing the notoriously anti-Semitic Venezuelan dictator in front of the world’s cameras?

israel is a state with some 7 million inhabitants. fact and reality is that no-one is going to push these people inton the sea, nor is there any army or force that will even try to overrun the country, let alone try to take it captive. the hizbolla are over the litani river in the upper section of lebanon, and have zero chance of reaching the israel lebanon norder, and the hamas in gaza, couldnt even ctoss the fence deviding gaza from israel, egypt and jordan are no longer at war with israel, so that leaves only syria who would have to cross the golan heights to enter srael from the north east. little sign of syrian forces being able to do that,
so that leaves only the missiles. well true, and admittedly they could cause lots of damage if unleashed in numbers, but unless nuclear bombs are used, israel can well retaliate and defend itself.
the question now is.; does israel wait to be bombed, or does it pre emptively bomb the bombers. i believe israel is very well prepared on all fronts, just as it is already giving out gas masks to its entire population. i would advise the arab nations and iran; sit down and talk, cos if you get hit first, the 6 day war will seem like an eternity. it will all be over in the first strike. ! Israel will strike hard and furious, with ferouscious force and tennacity, and will take out so many strategic targets, it wont even be funny. iran will be returned to the cave age, and the world will sit in awe and try to comprehend what just happened. ! just my humble reading on the situation to come less

Interesting that you left Egypt and Jordan out of your calculations. Egypt alone has well over 3,000 tanks, of which over 1,000 are M-1 Abrams and over 1,000 are M-60A3’s. Jordan has around 1,000 British made heavy tanks.

Israel maintains around 2,600 tanks of all types, including obsolete models.
Individually Israel can handle each of those nations, but only one of those many wars to destroy Israel has included a single adversary nation (Egypt 1956).
There was never a policy within wartime Soviet Russia to save Jews. That was Soviet post-war propaganda taking advantage of the obvious. Prior to 1939 the Jews were not moving east, the Soviet Union was moving west, absorbing the Baltic states before joining the nazi’s in invading and dismembering Poland. That’s how the Soviet Union ended up with so many Jews.

Beyond the initial 1948 recognition, the US government did not support Israel. In fact successive US presidental administrations maintained the Truman/Eisenhower imbargo of all military goods to Israel until 1967. (Kennedy opened the door to arms transfers to Israel in 1962 but the first A-4 Skyhawks didn’t arrive until 1966 and weren’t ready for combat until 1968).
Israel received that post 1966 support only because the Soviets were massively supporting Egypt and Syria. It was a Cold War proxy army thing, nothing else.
Guilt had nothing to do with it.
Everybody turned away refugee boats, Jewish or otherwise, during the 1930’s through 1948. Everybody, including the Soviets.
Those seven million Israelis represent more then half of the worlds remaining Jews. Defending a nation that is just nine miles wide at its thinnest point.
