Happy New Year From Al Qaeda

While most normal people were celebrating the new year, the Islamic murderbots were hard at work doing what they do best, killing innocent people.

Egypt Detains 17 People After Bomb Kills 21 at Church, Al Jazeera Reports

Egyptian police detained 17 suspects after a bomb blast killed 21 people outside a church in Alexandria, Al Jazeera television reported, citing unidentified security officials.

The explosion early yesterday injured more than 90 people, according to the Health Ministry. President Hosni Mubarak blamed the attack on “foreign elements.” The Interior Ministry said it increased security around churches “in light of the escalating threats from al-Qaeda to many countries,” according to a statement on its website.

Al-Qaeda’s branch in Iraq said in November it would attack Christian sites after it claimed Egypt’s Coptic Church was holding two Christian women who had converted to Islam. The church has denied this charge. No group has claimed responsibility for the blast.

“The technical aspects of the execution, the large number of victims and the threats of al-Qaeda in Iraq all point to al- Qaeda’a fingerprints,” Diaa Rashwan, an expert on Islamist groups at the Cairo-based Al Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies, wrote in an editorial in Al Shorouk newspaper.

Life And Death Fun And Games In Iran

Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani is free!

Iranian woman facing death ‘freed’

Photographs of an Iranian woman sentenced to death for adultery, Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, have been released, but without any official confirmation of a report that she has been freed.

The images, released on Thursday by the Iranian state-controlled Press TV, show Ashtiani while on home leave last week.

The International Committee Against Stoning (ICAS), a German-based campaign group, says the photographs suggest Ashtiani has been freed.

Patty Debonitas, a spokesperson for the committee, one of the main groups which campaigned on behalf of Ashtiani, hailed the reported release a “historic” victory in an interview with Al Jazeera on Thursday.

“It’s a historical success because the international outcry worked,” Debonitas said.

Um, no she’s not.

Iran state television denies reports of woman sentenced to stoning’s release

State television in Iran denied reports that a mother of two sentenced to death by stoning had been released.

Earlier rumours that Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, whose case sparked a massive international outcry and calls from celebrities that she be released or her sentence commuted, would be freed prompted jubilation around the world.

. . .

Early Friday local time, government-owned Press TV released a statement saying Ms. Ashtiani had been taken home to film a special in which she would confess to murdering her husband and show the scene of the crime for a TV special.

“Contrary to a vast publicity campaign by Western media that confessed murderer Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani has been released, a team of broadcast production team with the Iran-based Press TV has arranged with Iran’s judicial authorities to follow Ashtiani to her house to produce a visual recount of the crime at the murder scene,” the broadcaster wrote.

The “Iran Today” program, said it would broadcast its report on Ms. Ashtiani’s case Friday evening and over the weekend.

Iranians Must Get Stoned

Is or will Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani be free? Who knows? Knowing how cruel and diabolical the Iranian government is, I doubt it. It’s evil enough that the Iranian government sentenced a women to death by stoning, for adultery, but what kind of sadistic government forces the condemned to confess and reenact the crime, which may or may not be coerced, on State TV? What manner of barbaric voyeurism is that?

/I’d like to believe she’s free, she’s already been through tortuous, life threatening hell in an Iranian prison, but I won’t believe it until she appears on TV in a Western country

Obama’s Excellent Muslim Panderfest

Remember during the campaign when daring to mention Obama and Islam in the same sentence would get you the political equivalent of life in the electric chair without the possibility of parole? Well, gee, now Obama is all Muslim all the time, he just can’t seem to get enough Islam.

The Emergence of President Obama’s Muslim Roots

ABC News’ Jake Tapper and Sunlen Miller report: The other day we heard a comment from a White House aide that never would have been uttered during the primaries or general election campaign.

During a conference call in preparation for President Obama’s trip to Cairo, Egypt, where he will address the Muslim world, deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Communications Denis McDonough said “the President himself experienced Islam on three continents before he was able to — or before he’s been able to visit, really, the heart of the Islamic world — you know, growing up in Indonesia, having a Muslim father — obviously Muslim Americans (are) a key part of Illinois and Chicago.”

Given widespread unease and prejudice against Muslims among Americans, especially in the wake of 9/11, the Obama campaign was perhaps understandably very sensitive during the primaries and general election to downplay the candidate’s Muslim roots.

The candidate was even offended when referred to by his initials “BHO,” because he considered the use of his middle name, “Hussein,” an attempt to frighten voters.

With insane rumors suggesting he was some sort of Muslim Manchurian candidate, then-Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and his campaign did everything they could to emphasize his Christianity and de-emphasize the fact that his father, Barack Obama Sr., was born Muslim.

The candidate’s comment at a Boca Raton, Florida, town hall meeting on May 22, 2008, was typical: “My father was basically agnostic, as far as I can tell, and I didn’t know him,” he said.

In September 2008, candidate Obama told a Pennsylvania crowd, “I know that I’m not your typical presidential candidate and I just want to be honest with you. I know that the temptation is to say, ‘You know what? The guy hasn’t been there that long in Washington. You know, he’s got a funny name. You know, we’re not sure about him.’ And that’s what the Republicans when they say this isn’t about issues, it’s about personalities, what they’re really saying is, ‘We’re going to try to scare people about Barack. So we’re going to say that, you know, maybe he’s got Muslim connections.’…Just making stuff up.”

Back then, the campaign’s “Fight the Smears” website addressed the candidate’s faith without mentioning his father’s religion:

“Barack Obama is a committed Christian. He was sworn into the Senate on his family Bible. He has regularly attended church with his wife and daughters for years. But shameful, shadowy attackers have been lying about Barack’s religion, claiming he is a Muslim instead of a committed Christian. When people fabricate stories about someone’s faith to denigrate them politically, that’s an attack on people of all faiths. Make sure everyone you know is aware of this deception.”

The website also provided quotes from the Boston Globe and Newsweek mentioning his father’s roots.

Since the election, however, with the threat of the rumors at least somewhat abated, the White House has been increasingly forthcoming about the president’s roots. Especially when reaching out to the
Muslim world.

In his April 6 address to the Turkish Parliament, President Obama referenced how many “Americans have Muslims in their families or have lived in a Muslim majority country. I know, because I am one of them.”

Obama a ‘Secret Muslim’ No More?

In fact, Obama is so excited about Islam that he’s single handedly turned the United States into a Muslim country!

Obama: US ‘one of the largest Muslim countries in the world’

Now, the flip side is I think that the United States and the West generally, we have to educate ourselves more effectively on Islam. And one of the points I want to make is, is that if you actually took the number of Muslims Americans, we’d be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world. And so there’s got to be a better dialogue and a better understanding between the two peoples.

Really, when did that happen? There’s maybe six million Muslims in the United States, out of a population well north of 300 million, that makes America a Muslim country?

So anyway, Obama, with Islam on the brain, is now in the Middle East on his panderfest tour. First stop, Saudi Arabia to suck up to the oil ticks.

Obama’s Saudi landing: Muslim mission

“I thought it was very important to come to the place where Islam began and to seek his majesty’s counsel and to discuss with him many of the issues that we confront here in the Middle East,” Obama said before a private meeting with the king. “I am confident that working together the United States and Saudi Arabia can make progress on a whole host of issues and mutual interests.”

Needless to say, Osama bin Laden is unimpressed with Obama’s pandering.

New Bin Laden Tape Blasts Obama

A new audio tape from Osama bin Laden criticizes President Barack Obama for planting seeds of “hatred and vengeance toward Americans” and warns of “new long wars.”

The tape, aired on Arabic news network al Jazeera Wednesday, blasts the U.S. president for his role in Pakistan’s military operation against Taliban forces in the Swat Valley. The message came as Mr. Obama touched down in Saudi Arabia on the first leg of a Mideast trip to shore up diplomatic relations in the region.

U.S. intelligence officials confirmed the authenticity of tape but said “there’s no reason at this point to believe that any specific or credible threat is contained” in the message, reports CBS News White House correspondent Peter Maer.

But hey, why let a wet blanket killjoy like Osama bin Laden put a harsh on Obama’s excellent pander buzz. Tomorrow is the big event. After his Saudi sleepover, Obama is off to Cairo, Egypt, that bastion of human rights, to deliver the sequel to his Turkey apology to Muslims speech, you know, because that speech went over so well.

Obama looks to reach the soul of the Muslim world

Winning the hearts and minds of a majority of people is a nearly impossible feat, especially when you’re a politician.

President Obama hopes to start a “new chapter of engagement” with the Muslim world, a spokesman says.

And it’s even harder when religion is involved, namely Islam, which some estimates put at 1 billion followers.

But President Obama looks to do just that Thursday as he delivers what the White House is billing as a major speech to the Muslim world in Cairo, Egypt.

Obama hopes to start “a new chapter of engagement” between the United States and the Muslim world, speechwriter Ben Rhodes said Wednesday.

This engagement would be based on mutual respect and mutual interest, and Obama plans to speak “openly and candidly” about issues that have caused “tensions in the Muslim world,” Rhodes said. “This can’t be just [about] what we’re against, but what we’re for.”

Obama asked staff members to “cast a wide net” to gather a range of viewpoints, including those of Muslim-Americans, as he was preparing his Cairo comments, Rhodes disclosed.

Well, good luck with that, this ought to be interesting. Of course, we know one place Obama won’t be visiting on his panderfest tour. In a deliberate snub to what was once our closest ally in the region, Obama won’t set foot on Israeli soil. It’s obvious which side Obama, and by extention America, is on, and it’s not Israel’s. How depressing is that?

And then it’s off to Europe to pander there!

Dresden gets U.S. security for Obama visit

Secret Service agents are screening Dresden for potential security threats before a visit by U.S. President Obama to the eastern Germany city next week.

The U.S. agents arrived in Dresden Monday and, together with German security authorities, have been screening the historic city center, German daily Bold reports.

Gee, now why would Obama possibly want to visit Dresden?
