U.S. troops have been out of Iraq for what, less than a day now?

Iraq issues arrest warrant for vice president Hashemi

Iraq has issued an arrest warrant for Sunni Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi, a senior security official said on Monday, after the government obtained confessions linking him to what the official described as terrorist activities.

Interior Ministry spokesman, Major General Adel Daham, told a news conference that confessions by suspects identified as Hashemi’s bodyguards linked the vice president to suspected killings and attacks.

It’s painfully clear what’s going on here. With the U.S. military now out of the way, the Shia led Iraqi government, backed by Iran, is wasting no time flexing its muscle and settling old scores against the Iraqi Sunni minority. Can you say looming civil war?

/and now we’ve pretty much given up our ability to effectively intervene militarily in Iraq, leaving Iran as the only regional military power capable of “riding to the rescue” of the Iraqi government, who just happen to be Iranian puppets anyway

Where In The World Is Mohammed Omar?

Is Mullah Omar dead, alive, kidnapped by Western Intelligence, the ISI? No one seems to know, yet, or they’re not telling.

Afghanistan confirms of Taliban leader Mullah Omar’s disappearance

Afghanistan’s intelligence services on Monday confirmed that the one-eyed Taliban leader Mullah Omar, with a US$10 million bounty on his head, had disappeared from his Quetta hideout in Pakistan.

“We can confirm about the disappearance of Omar five days ago from his Pakistani hideout,” said Mashal, spokesman for the National Directorate of Security (NDS).

However, the NDS spokesman did not confirm a previous claim of an Afghan intelligence source of Omar’s assasination by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency.

Taliban, meanwhile, brushed off rumors of their leader’s death or disappearance.

Obviously, capturing Mohammed Omar alive and holding him in Western custody would be the ideal state of affairs here. Shot dead or blown to smithereens would be the second best outcome, although some concrete proof of death would be nice to have. And who’s going to believe the Taliban that he’s still alive and free without proof of life? In any case, every day Omar stays missing is a good day for civilized people everywhere. If Mullah Omar disappears into thin air and there’s no one around that knows where he is, is he still the Taliban leader?

/I wonder how long you have to be missing in Pakistan before you’re declared legally dead?

Naughty, Naughty Hezbollah

A U.N.-backed Special Tribunal for Lebanon has issued indictments related to the 2005 assasination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. There about a 100% chance these indictments will implicate Hezbollah in the mass murder. There’s only one problem. So far, the indictments are sealed, so the waiting continues.

U.N. concludes probe of Hariri assassination

A U.N. prosecutor Monday submitted a sealed indictment against suspects in the 2005 assassination of a former Lebanese prime minister, concluding an investigation that has cast suspicion on top Syrian leaders and Hezbollah militants and contributed to the collapse this month of Lebanon’s pro-Western government.

Daniel Bellemare, the U.N. tribunal’s Canadian prosecutor, filed the indictment under seal late Monday before the court’s pretrial judge, Daniel Fransen. It could be several weeks before the identities of the suspects are known and about a year before a trial would be held.

The case has roiled Lebanese politics, with anticipation that the prosecutor would name members of Hezbollah in connection with the bombing attack that killed the former prime minister, Rafiq al-Hariri, and 22 others.

Hezbollah has denied involvement. Hasan Nasrallah, head of the Hezbollah movement, has said he would not allow Hezbollah members to be arrested.

Pakistan Circling The Drain

The government is crumbling, prominent politicians are being openly assassinated, and the situation seems to be getting worse by the day.

Pakistan’s Government Scrambles to Survive Coalition Defections

Pakistan’s ruling party is struggling to keep its grip on power a day after a key partner quit the governing coalition, denying it the majority in the national parliament. The prime minister is meeting with opposition politicians in a bid to head off a possible no-confidence vote.

Last month, a small party in the parliament, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, announced it was switching to the opposition in parliament and demanded Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani step down.

But the major political setback came Sunday when the second largest party in the ruling coalition, the Muttahida Quami Movement, announced it was also ending its partnership with the government. The move has turned Prime Minister Gilani’s government into a minority coalition in parliament.

Leading Pakistani Politician Killed

A leading politician from Pakistan’s ruling party was gunned down in a wealthy neighborhood of Islamabad Tuesday by a member of his security detail after speaking out against the country’s controversial blasphemy laws, an assassination that highlights the nation’s struggle to contain extremism even among those close to the center of power.

Salmaan Taseer, governor of Punjab, Pakistan’s most-populous province, and a member of the ruling Pakistan People’s Party, died after a member of his security team fired multiple shots into his car at a shopping complex, police said.

His attacker, Malik Mumtaz Qadri, who surrendered to police, admitted he was angered by Mr. Taseer’s opposition to the blasphemy laws, Interior Minister Rehman Malik told local television.

Seriously, if you thought Pakistan was less than cooperative with the U.S. Coalition’s war effort in Afghanistan before, just wait and see what happens if the Pakistani government collapses. The current ruling party, the Pakistan People’s Party, are the moderates. Any follow on Pakistani government will surely be much less friendly to U.S. interests in the region, if that’s even possible. And don’t forget, Pakistan has nuclear weapons.

Who’s Killing Iran’s Nuclear Scientists?

Is it the CIA, MI6, Mossad, Iran itself? Who knows? It really doesn’t matter, as long as they keep turning up dead it’s all good.

Bomb Attack Killed Distinguished Iranian University Professor

Two separate terrorist attacks on Iranian professors in Tehran today killed a distinguished university professor and injured another academician, IRNA reported.

Professor Majid Shahriari lost his life after unknown assailants driving a motorcycle attacked his car when he was on his way to Shahid Beheshti University accompanied by his wife who is in good condition at a nearby hospital.

Another attack directed against professor Fereydoun Abbasi also occurred at about the same time by unknown assailants. Abbasi received some injuries after the attack but he is in stable condition.

Today’s incidents resemble a similar attack on Iranian nuclear scientist Masoud Alimohamadi last January in front of his home. He was killed by a booby-trapped motorcycle parked near place of resident.

If you’re an Iranian nuclear scientist, you’ve got to be thinking long and hard about your safety right about now and possibly even defecting to the West. The Russians Are Not Amused

Remember Anna Chapman and the nine other Russian spies that were arrested last June? Well, it appears they were outed by a high ranking Russian intelligence officer who was also working for the United States. Needless to say, the Russians are not pleased about this huge embarrassment.

Russian Double Agent Betrayed Spy Ring in US

Russia’s spy scandal is flaring up again on the news that an intelligence service colonel betrayed the identities of 10 spies, then defected to the United States.

A high-ranking Russian double agent was behind last summer’s exposure and arrest of 10 Russian sleeper spies in the United States. The news was published in Kommersant newspaper Friday and later confirmed by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

Days before the arrests, a Colonel Shcherbakov, a branch leader of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, fled Moscow to join his daughter and son in the United States, according to the news report.

Gennady Gudkov, a deputy on the State Duma’s Security Committee, told Interfax that the colonel’s defection was a major blow to the “S” Directorate, which prepare deep cover agents for overseas work. He said internal alarm bells should have rung because the colonel’s daughter was a long-term resident in the United State and the Colonel declined a promotion last year, presumably to avoid taking a lie detector test.

Russia Hunts Double Agent Who Betrayed Spies, Newspaper Says

A Moscow newspaper reported on Thursday that the Kremlin has dispatched an assassin to hunt down a suspected double agent it blames for betraying the Russian spies arrested in June by the United States.

According to the report in Kommersant, an unnamed Kremlin official said that the former head of the Russian intelligence service’s “illegal” spying operations in the U.S., a Colonel Shcherbakov, had betrayed his colleagues and is now being actively sought out.

This is a major score for U.S. intelligence, high ranking defectors like this don’t come around very often. It’s a safe bet that the CIA got a lot more information out of Colonel Shcherbakov than just the names of the ten Russian agents.

/well played Colonel Shcherbakov, your new country thanks you, hopefully the CIA can keep you alive

Muslim Problem, What Muslim Problem?

It’s Islamic Jihad’s 23rd anniversary today and they held a little celebration, lots of Islamic fun was had by all!

Islamic Jihad leader: Israel must be wiped out of existence

Tens of thousands of supporters of the militant Islamic Jihad movement rallied in the streets of Gaza on Friday, chanting “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.”

Young men and boys wearing white T-shirts with a slogan in the shape of a rifle carried portraits of militants killed in combat, under the black flags of Islamic Jihad.

Ramadan Shallah, the group’s exiled chief, currently residing in Damascus, sent a recorded message marking the anniversary of the assassination of the group’s leader Fathi Shiqaqi in Malta in 1995, by presumed Israeli secret agents.

“Israel will not bring peace to the region, it will only bring war and destruction and therefore, the slogan of all should be that Israel must be wiped out of existence,” said Shallah, who is on a United States wanted list.

Senior leaders of the ruling Islamist group, Hamas, joined the open-air gathering, the largest for years in honor of Islamic Jihad with up to 100,000 attending according to its organizers.

Hamas allowed the group to use city terrain it usually reserves exclusively for its own rallies, and Hamas forces provided security for the parade by its smaller rival.

Unrequited Muslim Outreach

Now seriously, ask yourself, do these people strike you as being members of a Religion of Peace, content to harmoniously coexist alongside Israel (or the United States for that matter), abiding by a rationally negotiated, equitable two state solution? Do these people seem even remotely interested in Obama’s “outreach to Muslims”?

Of course, the answer to both questions is hell no! These Muslims are brainwashed from birth to annihilate Israel, kill every Jew, convert or kill every infidel, including you and your entire family, and destroy your civilization and way of life. The only reason they haven’t accomplished all these goals is that they’re not strong enough, yet.

But don’t worry, Western appeasement only gives them much contemptuously appreciated strength and encouragement. It’s an undisputed fact that Islam has declared war on the West multiple times in recent history. Whether you want to fight them or even take the threat seriously, it doesn’t matter. They’re deadly serious and they will take the fight to you. The evidence is so overwhelmingly pervasive to the point where you can’t rationally ignore it.
