ACLU And CCR Heart Anwar Al-Awlaki

As usual, the ACLU and CCR are defending the enemies of the United States. Has there ever been a terrorist they didn’t like? This time, they’re upset about “targeted killing”, you know, killing enemy combatants during wartime, what a novel concept, never before seen in the history of warfare.

Anwar al-Awlaki: ACLU wants militant cleric taken off US ‘kill list’

Two US civil rights groups are asking a federal judge to halt an alleged Obama administration plan to kill an American citizen believed to be allied with Al Qaeda and hiding in Yemen.

The Center for Constitutional Rights and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed the lawsuit Monday in Washington. It asks US District Judge John Bates to order the government not to carry out the alleged plot to conduct a targeted killing of Anwar al-Awlaki.

Mr. Awlaki is a militant Islamic lecturer who used the Internet to spread the ideology of Al Qaeda. Born in the US and educated at American colleges, Awlaki has provided a bridge between militants overseas and some radical Muslims based in the US.

He is reported to have encouraged Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan. He allegedly helped train Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, who has been charged with attempting to blow up an airliner on Christmas Day, and is said to have inspired would-be Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad.

According to the lawsuit, US officials placed Awlaki’s name on a “kill list” in early 2010. The suit says that American officials are using secret criteria to determine who goes on the list.

The evidence is overwhelming that Anwar al-Awlaki is a self-confessed al Qaeda operative with American blood on his hands, also known as a sworn enemy of the United States. Al-Awlaki puts out his own internet videos professing as much! As an enemy combatant on the global battlefield, he’s entitled to a bullet in the head, not his Fourth Amendment rights.

A Muslim Soldier

While the Obama administration bends over backward to come up with euphemisms to avoid using the word terrorism, the terrorists themselves clearly call it what it is, an Islamic war against the United States and they are the Muslim soldiers that will continue to carry out attacks on U.S. soil and abroad.

Remorseless Times Square car bomber Faisal Shahzad warns: ‘We will be attacking the U.S.’

A self-proclaimed “Muslim soldier” who bungled a plot to bomb Times Square promised Monday that others will succeed where he failed.

A remorseless Faisal Shahzad pleaded guilty to the frightening scheme to blow up the Crossroads of the World on a busy Saturday night, when it was packed with New Yorkers and tourists.

“It’s a war,” Shahzad, 30, said in a hateful screed to Manhattan Federal Judge Miriam Cedarbaum.

“I’m going to plead guilty a hundred times over because until the hour the U.S. pulls its forces from Iraq and Afghanistan and stops the drone strikes … we will be attacking the U.S.,” he said. “And I plead guilty to that.”

He never once said he was sorry, even when Cedarbaum pressed him on the human carnage – including the death of many children – he could have caused if his bomb-packed SUV exploded the night of May 1.

“Did you look around to see who they were?” Cedarbaum asked him of his potential victims.

“Well, the people select the government,” Shahzad said. “We consider them all the same. …”

“Including the children?” the judge demanded.

“Well, the drone hits in Afghanistan and Iraq, they don’t see children, they don’t see anybody,” Shahzad fired back.

“They kill women, children, they kill everybody. It’s a war, and in war, they kill people. They’re killing all Muslims.”

“One has to understand where I’m coming from,” Shahzad told the judge. “I consider myself … a Muslim soldier.”

“And it’s a war to kill people,” he coldly declared.

So, we can continue to pretend and ignore the obvious or we can take the terrorists’ word for it and call it what it is, an Islamic war against the United States.

Obama Plans To Invade Pakistan

Mister Nobel Peace Prize winner is apparently preparing to keep one of his campaign promises and launch “overseas contingency operations” on Pakistani soil.

Options studied for a possible Pakistan strike

The U.S. military is reviewing options for a unilateral strike in Pakistan in the event that a successful attack on American soil is traced to the country’s tribal areas, according to senior military officials.

Ties between the alleged Times Square bomber, Faisal Shahzad, and elements of the Pakistani Taliban have sharpened the Obama administration’s need for retaliatory options, the officials said. They stressed that a U.S. reprisal would be contemplated only under extreme circumstances, such as a catastrophic attack that leaves President Obama convinced that the ongoing campaign of CIA drone strikes is insufficient.

“Planning has been reinvigorated in the wake of Times Square,” one of the officials said.

At the same time, the administration is trying to deepen ties to Pakistan’s intelligence officials in a bid to head off any attack by militant groups. The United States and Pakistan have recently established a joint military intelligence center on the outskirts of the northwestern city of Peshawar, and are in negotiations to set up another one near Quetta, the Pakistani city where the Afghan Taliban is based, according to the U.S. military officials. They and other officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity surrounding U.S. military and intelligence activities in Pakistan.

The “fusion centers” are meant to bolster Pakistani military operations by providing direct access to U.S. intelligence, including real-time video surveillance from drones controlled by the U.S. Special Operations Command, the officials said. But in an acknowledgment of the continuing mistrust between the two governments, the officials added that both sides also see the centers as a way to keep a closer eye on one another, as well as to monitor military operations and intelligence activities in insurgent areas.

Obama said during his campaign for the presidency that he would be willing to order strikes in Pakistan, and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said in a television interview after the Times Square attempt that “if, heaven forbid, an attack like this that we can trace back to Pakistan were to have been successful, there would be very severe consequences.”

Obama dispatched his national security adviser, James L. Jones, and CIA Director Leon Panetta to Islamabad this month to deliver a similar message to Pakistani officials, including President Asif Ali Zardari and the military chief, Gen. Ashfaq Kiyani.

Jones and Panetta also presented evidence gathered by U.S. law enforcement and intelligence agencies that Shahzad received significant support from the Pakistani Taliban.

The U.S. options for potential retaliatory action rely mainly on air and missile strikes, but could also employ small teams of U.S. Special Operations troops already positioned along the border with Afghanistan. One of the senior military officials said plans for military strikes in Pakistan have been revised significantly over the past several years, moving away from a “large, punitive response” to more measured plans meant to deliver retaliatory blows against specific militant groups.

If you’re willing to put American boots on Pakistani ground in response to an attack on the United States you should also be willing to do the same as part of the war in Afghanistan.

Surprise, It’s Another Muslim Jihadi!

Of course, it’s really no surprise at all, unless you’re a lefty . . .

Was he a lone deranged nut, upset with Obamacare?

Maybe he was a right-wing nut?

Joining the Democrat-turned-Republican-turned-independent Bloomberg in the ranks of liberals quick-on-the-draw to accuse “mentally deranged” anti-big-government activists of being closeted domestic terrorists was Democratic Rep. Jerrold Nadler.

“It could have been an Islamic terrorist,” Nadler told the Politico, but then again “it could have been a right-wing nut,” he added. “People who are motivated because they’re sympathetic to al-Qaida, or to right-wing nut jobs sympathetic to others in Michigan, don’t have to be in contact with their leaders,” the House Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Subcommittee’s chief said.

Robert Dreyfuss says, how about a Tea Party Teabagger?

It may be that the Pakistan-based Taliban, the Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP), has quietly established a Connecticut franchise while we weren’t looking. That’s possible. But it seems far more likely to me that the perpetrator of the bungled Times Square bomb plot was either a lone nut job or a member of some squirrely branch of the Tea Party, anti-government far right. Which actually exists in Connecticut, where, it seems, the car’s license plates were stolen.

Ezra Klein thinks maybe he was just upset and despondent because he lost his house?

This guy is like string theory for the media: He brings together the seemingly incompatible stories that drove the past decade. That said, you of course don’t want to speculate on why someone “really” did something. The hearts of men are opaque, and motives are complex. But it’s a reminder that foreclosures generate an enormous amount of misery and anxiety and depression that can tip people into all sorts of dangerous behaviors that don’t make headlines but do ruin lives. And for all that we’ve done to save the financial sector, we’ve not done nearly enough to help struggling homeowners.

Seriously, who the hell knows why Faisal Shahzad parked a vehicle borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) in Times Square on a busy Saturday night, it’s all a big mystery . . . to Lefty.

Contessa Brewer was just hoping he was Michigan Militia and not a Muslim.

You know, sometimes a Muslim jihadi is just a Muslim jihadi and Faisal Shahzad is a Muslim jihadi, trained to make bombs in Pakistan and carry out a jihad attack in the United States! Any second grader can easily connect the obvious dots with an oversized crayon, but not Lefty. Lefty refuses to acknowledge that the concept of “Islamic terrorism” even exists.

The Obama administration and Lefties everywhere had better start taking this real world threat seriously, instead of prancing around the edges of the problem, making up clever euphemisms and excuses for Islamic terrorism, so as not to offend the easily offended Muslims.

I don’t know about you, but I see a disturbing trend emerging. Lately, we haven’t stopped any Islamic terror attacks.

/except for Muslim jihadi Nidal Hasan, who succeeded in shooting 43 people, killing 13, the only reason we haven’t seen an even more enormous loss of life is because Muslim jihadi Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab and Muslim jihadi Faisal Shahzad failed to successfully detonate their terrorist bombs
