Fifteen Trillion In The Hole And Counting

Everybody knew we were going to have to increase our debt, you can’t solve a problem this big overnight or turn around this much government spending on a dime. However, the inexplicable and incredibly shameful reality is, the Washington criminal enterprise gang that is Congress and Obama still haven’t cut anything yet. In fact, they’re still increasing spending.

Debt Clock Strikes $15 Trillion

With the deadline on the Super Committee looming, the Treasury Department said on Wednesday the U.S. national debt crept over the $15 trillion threshold this week, providing a fresh reminder of the unsustainable amount of borrowing on the government’s bloated balance sheet.

Th primary obstacle to getting our fiscal house in order is that Democrats flatly refuse to cut anything. They’re bizarre notion of “cutting spending” is to cut the rate of future spending increases. How insane is that? It’s a grim milestone and if Democrats don’t accept the obvious financial reality, and soon, our creditors and the markets will force draconian austerity on all of us. This isn’t Greece, is this Greece?

Definitely Not Mission Creep In A Not War

There’s nothing to see here, move along, it’s all just part of enforcing the U.N. mandated humanitarian no fly zone to, ahem, protect civilians. It’s definitely not ramping up NATO offensive military operations in support of one side in a civil war.

Liam Fox denies Apache strikes are a change of tactics

The Apaches hit targets near the Libyan town of Brega during the latest wave of Nato strikes against forces loyal to Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, the MoD said.

The Defence Secretary, epeaking at a security forum in Singapore, said that the use of British Apache attack helicopters in Libya was a logical continuation of the Nato-led military operation against Muanmar Gaddafi’s forces and did not mean that fighter jet attacks had failed.

“It’s not plan B at all,” said Dr Fox.

“The use of the attack helicopters is a logical extension of we have already been doing. We already have fast jets in action, this gives us a chance to target new targets in a way we weren’t able to do.

So now NATO is using attack helicopters, where the hell in U.N. Resolution 1973 is that authorized? The current NATO operations are now way beyond what was ever intended or mandated by the original, authorized, humanitarian U.N. mission. Seriously, can ground troops be far behind the attack helicopters?

/just how kinetic does a humanitarian kinetic military action have to get before one may dare call it direct, offensive, one sided, military intervention in a civil war?

Pakistan wants to cut CIA drone strikes, personnel

The Pakistani government would like the CIA’s aggressive drone campaign “suspended” and only resumed under “new rules” and “formalized terms,” according to a Pakistani military official familiar with discussions between the two nations.

Only then, in the instances where there was “compelling evidence” that a militant “high value target” had been located and that the operation was jointly coordinated between Pakistan and the United States, would the Pakistani government sanction a drone strike in the future, the official said.

Should U.S. Cut All Aid to Pakistan?

The vast majority of our Taliban problem emanates from sanctuaries in Northern Pakistan. Not only does the Pakistani government do nothing worthwhile to stop or control the Taliban menace based on their soil, it’s a certainty that significant elements of the Pakistani government and intelligence services are infiltrated by and give support and succor to the Taliban.

Not allowed to operate overt ground forces inside Pakistan, U.S. drone strikes and covert CIA activity are the only tactics that are even somewhat effective at eliminating Taliban leaders and operatives. Forcing the CIA to curtail the drone strikes or give advance notice of the strikes to Pakistan, thus almost surely tipping off the Taliban, would be another crippling blow to our already faltering efforts in Afghanistan, nonsensical as they might be.

/if Obama has any balls, he’ll tell the Pakistanis to [expletive deleted] off, keep the covert CIA drone program operating as is and, if Pakistan keeps bitching about it, threaten them with the sledgehammer of cutting off U.S. aid
