You Don’t Have To Like It, You Just Have To Pay For It

It’s bad enough that these slumlord scofflaw Islamists are trying to build a 9/11 victory lap mosque as close to Ground Zero as possible, but now they’re asking American taxpayers, 70% of whom oppose building the mosque near Ground Zero, to help pay for it. What unmitigated gall! Talk about rubbing salt into an open wound, they’re really trying to stick it to the dirty kuffar with this obscene gesture.

Park51 developers apply for $5M federal grant, outraging opponents of mosque near Ground Zero

Developers of a mosque near Ground Zero are fanning a new flame of controversy by applying for a $5 million federal grant reserved for the redevelopment of lower Manhattan.

“I think it’s an insult to the 9/11 families. It’s another smack in the face,” said retired FDNY Deputy Chief Jim Riches, whose 29-year-old son, Jim, a firefighter, was killed on 9/11.

“I think it’s becoming more and more comical,” he said of the latest twist over the proposed 13-story Islamic community center and mosque. “Now we’re going to have to pay for it.”

Sharif El-Gamal, developer of the proposed Park Place project, confirmed his group has applied for the Lower Manhattan Development Corp. grant.

Double The Record Bailout, Double The Criminality

Franklin Raines, Barney Frank, Maxine Waters, and all the rest of these thieving Democrat criminals should be made to forfeit of every last penny’s worth of their personal property and then be thrown in Federal prison for the rest of their lives. They’ve done immeasurable damage to the U.S. economy, the U.S. taxpayers, and everyone who own a house or a retirement account. And it’s not over yet and it’s only going to get worse.

Fannie and Freddie support may reach $363 billion by 2013

Mortgage finance giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac could need as much as $363 billion in government payments by 2013, regulators said Thursday.

The Treasury Department has pumped $148 billion into the agencies since the government took them over in 2008.

The new projections by the Federal Housing Finance Agency, based on a series of assumptions about home prices, indicate that Fannie and Freddie will require an additional $73 billion to $215 billion before 2013.

The State Of The Union Is Not Strong

The U.S. economic forecast looks grim and we’re definitely expecting more rain.

UPDATE: CBO Estimates 2010 Deficit At $1.34 Tln

A new projection from the Congressional Budget Office forecast the federal government’s budget deficit for fiscal 2010 would total $1.34 trillion, improving to just over $1 trillion in fiscal 2011, which begins on Oct. 1.

If the CBO’s figures are reached, the deficit in the current fiscal year would be equal to 9.1% of U.S. gross domestic product, compared with fiscal 2009’s mark of 9.9%.

The latest figures from the nonpartisan agency portray a dreary picture of the U.S. economy, predicting U.S gross domestic product would only grow by 2% between the fourth quarter of 2010 and the same period next year.

It said the unemployment rate would not fall back to the long-term average of 5% until the end of 2014.

The CBO said since mid-2009, the recovery in the U.S. economy had been “anemic” compared with the periods following earlier recessions.

The projections involve several assumptions that likely make them optimistic. They assume the Bush-era tax cuts expire at the end of 2010, for example, and also that Congress makes no further annual adjustments to prevent the alternative minimum tax from hitting middle-class taxpayers.

The projections also don’t include any further government stimulus efforts to accelerate the lagging economy.

Kerry’s Powerless America Act

Regulations: Call it cap-and-trade or bait-and-switch, but John Kerry and Joe Lieberman continue to tilt at windmills with a bill to restrain energy growth in the name of saving the planet.

The bill introduced Wednesday and sponsored by the two senators is called the American Power Act, an Orwellian phrase if ever there was one. Like President Obama’s offshore drilling program, for every “incentive” there is a restriction. It’s as if Hamlet were to be appointed Secretary of Energy.

The legislation has little to do with developing America’s vast domestic energy supply. It’s cap-and-trade meets pork-barrel spending. It’s about regulations, restrictions and research. It does not deal with exploiting America’s vast energy reserves but with finding ways to mitigate their alleged harmful effect.

To that end, the bill creates some 60 new agencies and projects to eat up our tax dollars and buy support (see list alongside).

Needless to say, not a single Republican is on board with this job destroying garbage dump. In fact, it’s really hard to find much Democrat support for the bloated, bureaucratic eco-scam either.

/so, Kerry’s Folly is probably dead on arrival for now, however, it’s still best to vote these Democrat nimrods out of majority control of Congress so they can’t resurrect it from the grave

Pinocchiobama’s Nose Grows Again!

Remember that emphatic promise? Well, as with most of Pinocchiobama’s promises, it turns out that this promise was just so much bull[expletive deleted] too. Never mind that most of the existing taxes will be increasing at the start of 2011, Pinocchiobama’s got a brand new tax in mind to relive taxpayers of their hard earned income, so he can spend even more money the government doesn’t have.

Obama Floats a VAT: ‘It’s Something That Would Be Novel for the United States’

President Obama made it official today: He is open to the imposition of a Value-Added Tax (VAT) on the American people. A VAT would violate Obama’s central campaign promise – a “firm pledge” that no family making less than $250,000 per year would see “any form of tax increase“.

Obama’s admission came during an interview with CNBC’s John Harwood. Asked if he could see the potential for a VAT, the President said:

“I know that there’s been a lot of talk around town lately about the value-added tax. That is something that has worked for some countries. It’s something that would be novel for the United States. And before, you know, I start saying ‘this makes sense or that makes sense,’ I want to get a better picture of what our options are.”

Obama’s VAT admission may explain his recent attempts to alter the terms of his central campaign promise.

Twice in the past two weeks, Obama has claimed his middle class tax pledge only applied to income taxes rather than “any form of taxes”.

In his April 10 Weekly Radio Address, Obama said:

“And one thing we have not done is raise income taxes on families making less than $250,000. That’s another promise we’ve kept.”

In a speech on the evening of April 15, Obama repeated the truncated promise:

“And one thing we haven’t done is raise income taxes on families making less than $250,000 a year — another promise that we kept.”

The two recent statements stand in stark contrast to Obama’s original promise:

“I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.” (Dover, NH) [Transcript] [Video]

The Obama VAT admission also comes the day after White House economic advisor Austan Goolsbee refused six consecutive opportunities to permanently close the door on a VAT and two days after White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said a VAT “is not something the President has proposed nor is it under consideration.”

So, there it is America, yet another big Pinocchiobama lie that’s going to cost you your hard earned money. You can’t trust anything that comes out of Pinocchiobama’s mouth anymore, he can’t even spell the word truth.

/you might try nailing your wallet to the kitchen table, but voting Republican this fall is probably the only thing that’ll keep Pinocchiobama from stealing it

Party Like It’s Tax Freedom Day

Happy Tax Freedom Day

According to the Tax Foundation, the average American needs to work 99 days – until today – in order to pay this year’s federal, state and local taxes. But, this calculation doesn’t include deficit spending.

“Today the average American has finally worked enough to pay off the tax collector, but it will be another thirty-eight days before Americans have covered the costs of reckless deficit spending by our federal, state, and local governments,” U.S. Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga., said in a news release. “That’s a heavy burden for hard-working families to carry at any time, especially when so many are still getting back on their feet.”

According to Price, the government needs to take upwards of 40 percent of Americans’ income to cover its debt and taxes this year, according to Price. If Tax Freedom Day also included deficit spending, it would be celebrated May 17 – “the second latest since World War II,” according to the Tax Foundation; 2009 was the latest (May 21).

“How many budding entrepreneurs and small business owners will decide the risk of following their dreams simply isn’t worth government debt and taxes taking almost forty percent of the reward?” Price said. “No nation in the world has ever taxed and indebted itself into prosperity. It’s time to unshackle our job creators from the bonds of reckless government spending.”
