And for some bizarre, unexplained reason, Tim Geithner is still the U.S. Treasury Secretary.

Credit rating downgrade hits markets

U.S. stocks tumbled, following the biggest weekly drop in the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index since 2008, amid concern that a downgrade of the nation’s credit rating by S&P may worsen an economic slowdown.

The U.S. credit rating downgrade extended a rout that wiped out $1.94 trillion in market value from the country’s stocks. S&P lowered the U.S. long-term rating one level to AA+ after markets closed on Aug. 5 while keeping the outlook at “negative” as the company becomes less confident that Congress will end Bush-era tax cuts or tackle entitlements.

Of course, the Democrats got their talking points together and tried blaming the Tea Party.

Seriously, blaming the Tea Party is about as ridiculous as blaming the fireman for starting the fire.

/the obvious problem, to any sane observer, is that Obama and the Democrats just spend too damn much money

Enough Already!

The political bickering and blame game over the weekend has been absolutely disgusting. Human beings died and others were seriously wounded. Shame on both sides, but a big extra heaping helping of disgrace for the frothing libtards. Trying to paint conservatives and Republicans as accessories to murder, without any linkage whatsoever, was and still is well beyond the pale and way worse than reprehensible.

Gabrielle Giffords shooting: Jared Loughner ‘believed he could fly’

Bryce Tierney, 22, was a school and college friend of Jared Loughner, the man charged with the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords.

. . .

He said Loughner was “more interested in this world than our reality.”

Mr Tierney said: “I saw his dream journal once. That’s the golden piece of evidence. You want to know what goes on in Jared Loughner’s mind, there’s a dream journal that will tell you everything.”

He said that Loughner sometimes approached strangers and would say “weird” things.

“He would do it because he thought people were below him and he knew they wouldn’t know what he was talking about.”

By the beginning of 2010, Loughner’s imaginary world was taking precedence over his everyday life, Mr Tierney said.

“He sort of drifted off, didn’t really care about hanging out with friends. He’d be sleeping a lot.

“He figured out he could fly.”

Jared Lee Loughner is seriously mentally ill, lost in his own fantasy world, fifteen pounds of paranoid schizophrenic in a five pounds bag. He doesn’t live in or near reality and doesn’t get his “marching orders” from Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, or the Tea Party.

Over the last two years, Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the Democrats have brought America to her knees with their progressive/socialist agenda. Well, it’s time to take our country back. Pummel the Democrats with your votes on November 2nd, even if you have to crawl over broken glass to do it. Only YOU can save the United States.

Surprise, It’s Another Muslim Jihadi!

Of course, it’s really no surprise at all, unless you’re a lefty . . .

Was he a lone deranged nut, upset with Obamacare?

Maybe he was a right-wing nut?

Joining the Democrat-turned-Republican-turned-independent Bloomberg in the ranks of liberals quick-on-the-draw to accuse “mentally deranged” anti-big-government activists of being closeted domestic terrorists was Democratic Rep. Jerrold Nadler.

“It could have been an Islamic terrorist,” Nadler told the Politico, but then again “it could have been a right-wing nut,” he added. “People who are motivated because they’re sympathetic to al-Qaida, or to right-wing nut jobs sympathetic to others in Michigan, don’t have to be in contact with their leaders,” the House Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Subcommittee’s chief said.

Robert Dreyfuss says, how about a Tea Party Teabagger?

It may be that the Pakistan-based Taliban, the Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP), has quietly established a Connecticut franchise while we weren’t looking. That’s possible. But it seems far more likely to me that the perpetrator of the bungled Times Square bomb plot was either a lone nut job or a member of some squirrely branch of the Tea Party, anti-government far right. Which actually exists in Connecticut, where, it seems, the car’s license plates were stolen.

Ezra Klein thinks maybe he was just upset and despondent because he lost his house?

This guy is like string theory for the media: He brings together the seemingly incompatible stories that drove the past decade. That said, you of course don’t want to speculate on why someone “really” did something. The hearts of men are opaque, and motives are complex. But it’s a reminder that foreclosures generate an enormous amount of misery and anxiety and depression that can tip people into all sorts of dangerous behaviors that don’t make headlines but do ruin lives. And for all that we’ve done to save the financial sector, we’ve not done nearly enough to help struggling homeowners.

Seriously, who the hell knows why Faisal Shahzad parked a vehicle borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) in Times Square on a busy Saturday night, it’s all a big mystery . . . to Lefty.

Contessa Brewer was just hoping he was Michigan Militia and not a Muslim.

You know, sometimes a Muslim jihadi is just a Muslim jihadi and Faisal Shahzad is a Muslim jihadi, trained to make bombs in Pakistan and carry out a jihad attack in the United States! Any second grader can easily connect the obvious dots with an oversized crayon, but not Lefty. Lefty refuses to acknowledge that the concept of “Islamic terrorism” even exists.

The Obama administration and Lefties everywhere had better start taking this real world threat seriously, instead of prancing around the edges of the problem, making up clever euphemisms and excuses for Islamic terrorism, so as not to offend the easily offended Muslims.

I don’t know about you, but I see a disturbing trend emerging. Lately, we haven’t stopped any Islamic terror attacks.

/except for Muslim jihadi Nidal Hasan, who succeeded in shooting 43 people, killing 13, the only reason we haven’t seen an even more enormous loss of life is because Muslim jihadi Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab and Muslim jihadi Faisal Shahzad failed to successfully detonate their terrorist bombs

One Year Later

Rick Santelli is hardly a teabagger.

Why the Tea Party Movement Matters

If any one person is the founder, it’s Rick Santelli. A year ago, the CNBC commentator blew a gasket on the air over a plan by the Obama Administration to tackle the foreclosure crisis. Multibillion-dollar proposals were flying like snowflakes in Washington, and Santelli’s rant struck a chord with people who wondered where all the money would come from. “We’re thinking of having a Chicago Tea Party,” Santelli declared, evoking the 1773 protest in Boston Harbor. A movement was born. Egged on by conservative interest groups and leveraging Barack Obama’s digital-networking strategies, grass-roots opponents of the President’s agenda have made themselves a major factor in U.S. politics.
